Fling Club Serendipity Book 1 edition by Tara Brown Literature Fiction eBooks

I wasn’t sure what Fling Club was fully about but I’m a big fan of Tara Brown so I knew I’d like it. I kind of thought this was going to be a fun summer read about good friends having fun for the summer with their summer flings. Oh man was I wrong! This book was more along the lines of Mean Girls & Cruel Intentions, where the rich have entirely too much money and too much time on their hands. Fling Club was more like torture club! I liked how the story unraveled, how you saw the cruelty come to light and were still shocked that someone could pull this off. I really liked Cherry’s character, how she was finally seeing things in realistic light and how she didn’t want to play those games anymore! It was a great coming of age story for her. As for Ashley.... I definitely think he was a great all around guy that really knew what type of person he was and where he stood on things but was open minded. I think he was pretty essential in helping Cherry find herself. Can’t wait to see where this series goes!

Fling Club Serendipity Book 1 edition by Tara Brown Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I don't think I'm the audience for this book ... it was definitely a YA romance but I could not get past some of the big flaws that I found while reading. The entire fling club concept was insulting and I can't believe smart girls would go along with this and ever think it was ok. Maybe I'm just jaded but I found it to be ridiculous. The hero and heroine were fine but I think the only character that I actually really enjoyed was Ella (Cherry's sister) and she was very much a side character. There was a lot of repetition in the narrative which didn't work for me. But, what concerned me the most, was the slut shaming that was repetitively brought up over and over. I don't think it's a good message - particularly for a romance that is geared towards teens. All in all, this novel did not work for me. But, the reviews on this one say something very different as many readers didn't feel similarly to me. So, if the premise sounds good to you, I'd recommend that you give it a shot. Perhaps my own issues and perspective didn't make for a good match with this one.
Cherry had made a connection with Griffin and she wanted to back out of the Fling Club. Cherry wondered how she was going to back out of the Fling Club and not become a social pariah. Cait wouldn’t take Cherry’s resignation lightly as she had been one of the founding members. Fling club had been her entire life in the summer in the Hamptons since she was fifteen- six years- running the boys, ruling boys. Choose a guy for a fleeting summer romance each summer to take them to functions and other events of their choice . This was to have been her last year. Cherry was breaking the fundamental rule, one that had been in place from the start - anyone who left the group was an cut. Griffin was Cherry’s first real boyfriend. Griffin had given Cherry a key to his apartment that week when she needed to drop off his dry cleaning. When she went in she found Griffin having sex with Cait. Cherry ran down four flights of stairs to just get away from what she had seen. Cait had been cherry’s friend but had betrayed her. Now all Cherry wanted was revenge. This wasn’t the first time Cait had stolen a gut from Cherry but it was the first time it was a guy Cherry cared about. Cherry’s little sister was Ella and she was merciless when it came to the upper crust and she assured Cherry, the plan and Ella assured cherry her plan would ruin Cait and Griffin. Andy was picking her up with their chauffeur. Also Cherry had to run and post the ad that Ella insisted their plot required. Cherry ahd broke up with Griffin by text. Cherry had grown up in a world that arranged marriages were still in place. Cherry was determined to take down Cait. She told Andy she had a plan- she was going to make sure Cait break every last rule of Fling Club and publically and humiliate herself in the process. Andy suggest that Cherry use the Community Post It Board as she had to get a guy that Cherry chooses to hit on her in front of Cait. Cherry ends up with Ashley was a robotics engineering student at M I T.
I couldn’t get into this book. I didn’t really like or connect with the characters. This had too much drama for me to really enjoy it. It was also a little too predictable for me. I like surprises and twists and turns that I like or do surprise me. This could also be a little confusing at times and repetitive. I am sure there are others who will enjoy this it just wasn’t for me.
What's a girl to do, when she finds her boyfriend in bed with the person that has ruled her life since becoming to teenager?? Get revenge!! All Cherry needs is the help of her brother and sister, and a hot guy that will be immune to someone that thinks they are God's gift to the world and looks the part. Once the plan is in motion, none of their lives will ever be the same!
This is a brand-new series.

This book was so deliciously deceptive and twisted. It was reminiscent of “Mean Girls” and “Cruel Intentions” but far more extreme. This book had everything you could want in a book drama, intrigue and an overabundance of catty girls. “Fling Club” is an overexaggerated look into the lives of the super-rich.

When one of their own breaks the rules, Cherry will stop at nothing to take back what was stolen from her. Cherry uses Ashley as a pawn in her twisted game. How far will Cherry stoop to get even? The answer is pretty damn far and in turn hurts those she hadn’t even intended to hurt.

The writing was easy to follow and had a definite flow. The character development was well done and thorough. These are all characters that you love to hate but most have some redeeming qualities. I felt this story, at its heart, was a story of Cherry finding herself and her way in this life. It is also, at its core, a coming of age love story.

This story was cute and an easy read. It was engaging and fast paced enough to keep my attention throughout. This book is recommended to those that need a fun escape from reality.
